The Gardens are dedicated to the deceased and used for remembrance and cremation cemetery only.
Your thoughtful respect would be appreciated by all that use the peaceful and tranquil Gardens.
- Opening hours are available from the garden office, noticeboard, website and Facebook.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens’ Management reserves the right to change the hours of opening.
- Fresh flowers only should be left at the memorial site. We will remove flowers when tired and past their best.
- Small potted plants may be left at the grave. These will be removed once they stop flowering and past their best.
- No artificial flowers are permitted and we reserve the right to remove them.
- No private planting is permitted at the memorial plot or in the Gardens.
- Flower displays and other articles are not to extend beyond the designated area of the memorial plot: 15” (38 cm) square.
- Portchester Memorial Gardens do not accept responsibility for any items that are lost or stolen, including fresh flowers and vases.
- Nothing other than the memorials, plaques and vases supplied by the Portchester Memorial Gardens is to be left on the memorial plot or in any part of the Gardens.
- Any articles, structures or plants that contravene this will be removed by the Portchester Memorial Gardens’ management, eg. silk/plastic flowers, solar lights, glass, china/plastic trinkets, fencing and pebbles (this list is not exhaustive). This also includes items decorating or hanging on landscaping eg. trees, planting, seating and features.
- Anything considered harmful to the environment, animals or visitors will be removed, such as sharp objects, battery or electrically operated items.
- All items removed from the memorial plot that contravene these Rules will be kept for collection for a period of three months, following which they will be recycled where possible or disposed of.
- Any unauthorised items left on the memorial plot are placed at the owner’s risk.
Portchester Memorial Gardens is not responsible for the care, condition, loss or damage done to any items left in breach of our regulations. - Only vases (upto 3 permitted) provided by or approved by the Portchester Memorial Gardens are permitted in the Gardens.
- Removal of plaques and memorials is prohibited unless authorised by Portchester Memorial Gardens staff.
- Christmas wreaths may be placed on the memorial plot for the festive period. They will be removed the day after the 12th night, kept for collection and then recycled where possible or disposed of.
- Maintenance of the Gardens is the responsibility of the Portchester Memorial Gardens. No cutting back of shrubs within the area of a memorial plot or in the Gardens is permitted. We reserve the right to cut back, remove & replant shrubs without notice to enhance and improve the landscaping and memorial plot area.
- No drinking, eating or smoking in the gardens.
- No lighting of fires.
- No bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller blades or roller boots in the gardens.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserves the right to arbitrate in any matter.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management cannot accept responsibility for acts of vandalism in the gardens, although we will take precautions to prevent this.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserves the right to amend the rules, which will be published in the Memorial Gardens office.
- Maintenance of the gardens is the responsibility of the Portchester Memorial Gardens. No maintenance or repair should be undertaken without consent.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserves the right to refuse anyone entry into the gardens.
- The gardens are used for remembrance and as a cremation cemetery only.
- TOpening hours are available from the garden office, noticeboard, website and Facebook.
- An adult must accompany children under the age of 14.
- A reasonable dress code should be observed; tops must be worn at all times.
- No pets or dogs, with the exception of guide dogs, except by prior consent.
- No radios or music are to be played in the Gardens except by prior consent. Please respect the tranquillity of the Gardens at all times.
- No climbing of memorial structures, walls or water features.
- No feeding of fish other than with fish food available from the office
- No private scattering of ashes.
- No playing of games.
- No drinking, eating or smoking/vaping in the Gardens; all litter to be placed in bins within the Gardens.
- No lighting of fires or BBQ’s.
- No bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller blades/boots in the Gardens.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management cannot accept responsibility for acts of vandalism in the gardens, although we will take precautions to prevent such acts.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserves the right to terminate agreements if the rules of the Gardens are not observed.
- At the expiration of the ‘Lease” period if a renewal has not been applied for by the leaseholder/grave owner, Portchester Memorial Gardens management will write to the leaseholder at his/her last known address. If Portchester Memorial Gardens management does not receive notification from the leaseholder within a 3 month period from the expiration of the lease, then Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserve the right to remove the memorial from the Memorial Gardens. It is the responsibility of the grave owner(s) to notify Portchester Memorial Gardens of any change of contact details eg address, phone number, email.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserves the right to amend or vary the rules, which will be published in the Memorial Gardens’ office, noticeboard and website.
- The Portchester Memorial Gardens management reserved the right to arbitrate in any matter.
Our gardens Rules and Regulations are subject to change, as we deem necessary.
